I took a chance on buying this car after reading some negative reviews and I'm glad I did. As far as I can tell, the negative reviews came from people who either didn't know what they were doing or didn't realize they needed the right computer software to make it work. And no, it doesn't record audio - it's for video only. This machine works exactly as promised. I use a 32GB SD card that just plugs into the machine and connects to my computer after scanning. I use a Mac so I upload videos to I-Movie where I can play with color, brightness, contrast etc. I can also add titles and background music. I am very satisfied with the result. My husband and I were given a box of old 8mm film that belonged to his mother. We got the order to send them to digitization. Although his brothers offered to cover the payment I know it would be in the thousands of dollars so good luck trying to raise that kind of money. At three hundred dollars, the biggest prize is my time, but it's fun. On average, film scans take about 10 minutes, so I scan at night when I'm watching TV so I don't sit around waiting for them to go out. I'm so glad I found this and I highly recommend it to anyone who knows how to use a computer and video editing software.
