Great Blades!

I am a fashion designer and I teach sewing; My favorite cutting tool is a disc cutter. When sewing I use the highest quality tools; They are the key to my high performance and my enjoyment of the process. Alphafix gave me a sample of their circular knives in exchange for an unbiased review of their product. In this review I'm comparing their blades to Olfa blades I've used in the past. Short answer: These blades are great and are now my favorite blades. Now for the details: Packaging: They come in a handy case that's easy to open and close; It keeps your blade stash safe (even if you toss it in a random trash can). Blade Thickness: Often a cheaper product will be thinner than a branded version. I pulled out my micrometer (don't everyone have one?) and checked it; Alphafix blades are the same thickness as Ofla blades. Markings: Markings on Alphafix blades are more visible than on Olfa blades. Fit: The Alphafix blade fits easily on my Olfa cutter. Usage: Very impressed with the sharpness and quality of the Alphafix blade. Anyway, the Alphafix blade is better than the Olfa blades I use. The only drawback: the blades are slightly oily straight out of the packaging. It might seem like a bad thing, but it's actually a good thing. A thin layer of oil protects them from corrosion during storage and also prevents them from sticking together. Remember that your new blade will have a light coating of oil on it, so use one of the random scraps of cloth to wipe it down (carefully!) before taking it to your delicate fabrics. Price: You count. . Alpha fix wins. Conclusion: Alphafix has a future for my business. I felt hollowed out every time I bought circular knives. It is very nice to be able to buy high quality rotary cutters at a fair price.
