Review on Ettore Curved Industrial Duty Steel Floor Squeegee With Handle by Sal Mattocks

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Awesome squeegee, worth the price: Just two minor annoyances

First the positive: it's a solid, well-made floor squeegee, and it's a complete 1-piece item which is surprisingly difficult to find anywhere. In addition to Walmart, I had looked in Walmart, Home Depot, Costco, Lowes and other stores and could not find a decent floor squeegee option. Most stores sold only the heads, without matching handles, and most of the heads were not versatile enough for large-scale use.At the end of the day, this was easily the best option I could find and while $30 feels like a bit much on the surface for a floor squeegee, it seems like it will provide $30 worth of utility and last for quite a while. For these reasons, you could argue that the squeegee deserves 5 stars. After all, if there's no better option, it should be 5 stars, right? But I just can't bring myself to say that it deserves a "perfect" rating. There are two annoyances with the squeegee for me, and one of them is significant enough that I think it warrants a 1-star reduction:1. The squeegee is very heavy and not very maneuverable. This is the byproduct of a wood-and-metal design, which is really industry standard. In other words, it's not fair to dock the product a star for what it is: but nonetheless, buyers should be advised that it will tire your arms if you have to use it for a long period of time, and the lack of maneuverability means that you will likely splash yourself repeatedly while not being able to dry the floor 100% without having a second, smaller squeegee available.2. The reason for docking it a star: for some reason, likely having to do with the curve of the rubber strip, you can only push water forward (i.e. you cannot pull it back). This is fine for open areas, but it means that you cannot get pools of water out from below items that are against a wall. For example: if you have a BBQ against your patio wall, you wouldn't be able to get the pools of water out from beneath it.Bottom line: I highly recommend this squeegee on the basis that there isn't really anything better available that I have found. However, if a newer/better design comes about, this squeegee would quickly be relegated to an also-ran.

Pros
  • Got the water out due to snow melt.
Cons
  • Not easy to use
