Worth every penny, and then some

once a month or two i would have a little leak around the bottom of the toilet for a while. I removed the toilet and found that a renovation a few years ago had the toilet flange installed incorrectly - too low, crooked, cracked and not bolted to the floor. I must not have been in town that day. So I tried to fix the big spongy green flange quickly. Surprisingly it didn't work, so I went for a full solution. I saw this flange and thought it was perfect. I sawed and machined a glued PVC flange. Cleaned up the grout and leveled the hole with Quikrete. I also made a mold to slightly extend the 4 inch PVC pipe so it is flush with the tile. Overkill, but... The beauty of this flange is that it's long and fits snugly in a 4" hole. My toilet is lined with an apron, so installing a wax ring would be next to impossible. Since my floor is a concrete slab, I used 1/4" Tapcons. They're great for flange drilling. No issues with a messy ring of wax or future hollowing out PVC, but I don't see the need to do it again. Anyway, that seems like it Flexon flange VERY well made. In addition to spacers, which I didn't use, the kit includes small, slightly spongy spacers for anyone who hesitates. I used a few thin ones to make the base of the toilet super hard, before tightening them. I did not use spacers. I did the same for the guest bathroom. The long fit of the flexon went beyond the short joint in the pipe in this setup. This flange definitely will not fit pipes with an inside diameter smaller than that than 4". It goes very well with the 4" ID PVC I have. I don't think it's necessary to do what I did, but I will say that mounting height is key. The flexon video shows the flange flush with the floor. They are both on the finished floor, which is perfect for me.
