I cannot praise Golden Acrylics. Now that I've done some work with it I can't go back to student quality or craft paints (I have some leftover craft supplies for paintings anyway). I apply my work over and over again, from 20 to several hundred layers of colour, and depending on the color I use, the gold colors are as opaque or transparent as I need. Despite the small size of the tubes, a little really helps. The peaks and textures you can create add another dimension to vibrant colors, and the difference between wet and dry paint is almost zero (unless you add media to affect the shine). This is the set I started with but have since expanded to include another set with larger pipes and an extra large titanium white tuba. Their media was also excellent and the retarder was my most used additive. The colors also come out beautifully with a matte medium. I'm usually a fairly budget conscious buyer and the price put me off at first, but after getting a set of student acrylic paints from a different brand the difference in quality and versatility became apparent. . When it comes to individual paintings, I can't use anything else. If you need professional color or want to improve your hobby exponentially, this is your ticket.
