These caps or lids - whatever you want to call them - go really well with the spouts which I also ordered on the same day. First I asked if it was rubber or synthetic. There were several well intentioned people giving various reports such as "rubber" etc. and a response from the retailer/manufacturer. You said PVC is synthetic. The reason I asked was that rubber hardens dramatically when coated with certain oils. Olive oil is one such example. Since one of the many uses I had planned was olive oil, the choice for synthetic oil was an obvious one. The lids fit snugly over the spout and can be easily removed for use. After a quick wash in warm soapy water and time to dry they were ready to go and looking really good. I use pourers for oil and vinegar jars, as well as a couple of flavored syrup bottles that I also buy from this site. I would buy them again but they will probably last a while. Now I will order another set with 4 grommets.
