Review on ACOPOWER Solar Panel Suitcase Adapter - Furrion 2 Pin Connector & Anderson Connector by Instructor Niederhaus

Very well done! - Solar panels

UPDATE! There was an issue where the device would not charge the ship's battery, the LEDs would not light up in full sun, etc. I contacted ACOPOWER and they asked me to test with my car battery. It worked so I tried again with a ship battery and it worked! Apparently I had a connection problem the first time. IMPORTANT NOTE: There will be NO LEDs on this charge controller (Landstar B) until the controller is properly connected to a working battery. This solar kit impresses with its quality. The panels are folded into a durable and reliable case. The electrical wiring is first class and with high quality materials. The case that comes with it is fabric but quite hard and should protect the device very well. The device works great. It kept the trailer running with radio, fans, lights, pump etc. and the batteries were in perfect condition for three days of testing. I've been monitoring the battery voltage closely day and night and believe this device is giving us enough power, at least in the summer, to never be plugged in. The charge controller is intelligent and offers all the battery maintenance functions of a modern charger/converter. .Instructions are fine once you find the right place to download. The sheet attached to the charge controller was initially terse and difficult to understand, but it's well worth the effort. I didn't realize that a separate piece (EPEVER MT-50) is needed to change battery type or monitor charge controller performance. I ordered one but was able to easily charge my flooded batteries with the sealed default settings. Please note that the same features offered by the MT-50 are said to be provided by the app downloaded from EPEVER, but you still need to buy a charge controller-to-phone adapter cable and the in-app reviews weren't encouraging, so that the MT-50 seemed to be the easiest way. I'm sure a non-technical user will have no problem getting this solar kit up and running as all it really takes is pointing the panels at the sun and hooking the clamps in. to the correct battery terminals, look at the LEDs on the controller to make sure it's doing what it's supposed to be doing, and forget it!

Pros
  • Practical thing
Cons
  • Some defects
