This was a very easy install for me. I used to use port charge pumps that came with a pressure tank. Since I had to replace these pumps about every 3 years or less, the last supposedly improved green model barely lasted 2 years due to tanks, pressure switches, pump motors etc failing while I wanted something heavier. I bought it. The pump company convinced me they might be of cheaper quality as I had never heard of them before. The installation was easy for me because, as I said, I have gained a lot of experience with other models over the past ten years. I generally cheat with a primer. This is easily done by using a washing machine hose, a garden hose and attaching it to your neighbor's hose barb (if they are close enough and don't mind) and your hose barb. Turn it on, make sure the pump is off, turn on the hose tap. This allows the water to flow in the opposite direction and fill the lines and prime the pump. After a few minutes, turn off the faucet. Turn on the pump and make sure it is pumping water. Typically, this process does not require removing stubs. Generally if you have a water pump you're done and clean the hoses, thank your neighbor etc. This usually works great and I can fill every pump I've tried on in 10 minutes without having to lug around buckets. in my forest, where my pump is. With this particular pump I had a good pressure pump for about 5 minutes. Then it pulsed, then I had no water again. This was repeated about 4 times. Without change. I've never had that with any other pump brand. Thinking it failed, I was ready to contact support. I thought the pump housing was larger, so maybe it was somehow trapping air, causing pressure loss. I ended up removing both vent plugs and the spigot to allow it to refill with water. He released several air bubbles. It still found air and lost its bloom again. At this point, after spending several hours doing what would normally take no more than twenty minutes on a bad day with other brands, I unscrewed the filler plug. A lot more air came out. I put it back in after the water ran out, then turned off the outside tap and turned on the pump. I ran it for about 25 minutes with some air but it's been two days now and it's pumping well and hasn't lost power again. I think any bigger pump housing might make them harder to prime. He's under a lot of pressure. I can't compare it to anything other than a 1hp port truck. Compared to them it is much better. In addition, having your own quality pressure tank is certainly better than cheap port cargo models. The amount of water and the pressure it provides is good. I'm wondering if it's possible to change the pressure switch from 30/50 to 40/60 and it can still pump at a higher pressure. The current pressure switch on is approximately the current RPM for most shallow well pumps.
