UV sterilizers are a great addition to any aquarium. The UV light kills all bacteria and algae blooms in the water. The seal on the one I used broke, water got into the light chamber and the device burned out. I love its compact size and how it was designed to integrate with the existing filters in my aquarium. I swapped out the water hose on the Whisper Power filter so that when water is sucked in to filter, that water gets past the UV light. This comes with the bulb mounted in a tube. All I had to do was mount them with the rubber tube adapter that came with them, plug them in and turn on the power with the switch next to the plug. A 55 gallon aquarium with a gravel filter, two powerheads, a cart filter over the back, an air pump and now this UV sterilizer. I couldn't be happier with this device.
