Review on Flowmaster 942546 Super 44 Muffler - Aggressive Sound, Black - 2.50 Offset IN/2.50 Center OUT by Leon Johnsson

A great addition if you want a more aggressive sound.

This was welded to my 2008 Jeep Commander. Seems very small compared to the monster size of a standard muffler. If you've been looking to upgrade your muffler and have had your eye on the Super 44, then you already know most of its pros and cons. Here's my opinion. This muffler makes a fantastic deep rumble, especially for my V8 engine. It also increased my MPG by about 2. When researching this I was concerned about how loud it would be. First, unless you sit in your driveway and start your engine, you won't "wake up the neighbors," as some claim. Accelerating to 15-20 mph will give you a nice deep rumble, once you hit 35-50 mph it will even out. It can get a bit noisy once you hit the freeway and I want to elaborate on that. Most people complain that this muffler is too loud at "highway speed". When you hit the freeway and accelerate to those speeds, you can actually hear this muffler working, but not so loud that you yell to talk to other people on the road. car or you don't even listen to music in the car. It's not that bad or noisy. Once you hit about 70 it will quiet down a bit, but of course you'll still find that you're not using the stock muffler. It gets loudest when you drive uphill on the highway, but in my opinion it is very tolerable. If you wanted quiet primarily, you wouldn't consider replacing the muffler with a Super 44 :) My car didn't have drones, but this can vary by vehicle. Overall I'm very happy with it. While it's tricky to drive frugally, it's if you just want to hit the gas pedal to hear the roar of this thing.

Pros
  • No internal gasket to throw away
Cons
  • Slightly dented
