Last night someone used a crowbar or large flathead screwdriver to slightly open and pry the bottom door lock. Then they stole mail from my mailbox for two days (I was out of town at night). The sheriff came out to file a report and explained that it takes about 30 seconds or less to open a locked floor door with a medium-sized pry tool in that particular mailbox. The design leaves the top of the email access door open to hackers, and the lock just isn't strong enough to withstand this attack. I confess I bought this crate because it was the cheapest lockable crate available at the time and obviously it came back to haunt me. While I was willing to ignore the fact that the mail sometimes gets wet, I cannot recommend a product with such an obvious design flaw. Upon examining the damage, it immediately became clear that this mailbox was vulnerable to being hacked with very little force. If you really want to prevent thieves from stealing your mail then I would skip that box and invest in a more reliable and better designed secure mailbox.
