Review on Seagate ST2000DM005 2TB SATA 3.5" Hard Drive with 5400 RPM and 6GB/s Transfer Rate - OEM Model by Jnis Zels ᠌

Revainrating 5 out of 5

The best thing for the money, I'm glad I chose this option.

Good disk, comrresponds to the declared characteristics. And if these characteristics do not suit you, you can see them even before buying. Photos (in the order in which I tried to show them, and not how they are altered by the useless engine): 1. Outer packing 2. disc in a sealed bag + packaging inside the box 3. The first inclusion (verification of parameters by SMART) 4. The result of registration with Seagate - the guaranteecomrresponds to the declared 5. Formatting 6. Test (attention! the test was performed in an external box via USB3 - the results may differ significantly from the setting on SATA inside the PC, but the order of the numbers and their logic are obvious) 7. check for heating and SMART changes after 26 hours ofcomntinuous drive testing in different modes And further. Here is a link to the specification of disks from the vendor (where both SMR and other features are explained): . Pdf

Pros
  • The main advantages (and disadvantages) are visible in the technical parameters of the disc. It makes no sense to repeat them in a review. I will add only the results of the test: 1. The disk is really new (see the photo of the packaging, SMART, the result of registration with the vendor) 2. Conforms to all declared characteristics (see photo by volume after formatting, SMART, test (note that the test was performed not on SATA, but in an external box (SATA-USB3, take into account corrections to the results)) 3. The disk is correctly registered with the vendor and receives an extended warranty I’ll also add a subjective impression: my copy turned out to be not noisy. I consider heating for several hours of continuous operation for writing and control reading (compare the photos of tests) tolerable.
Cons
  • They follow from the declared characteristics of the disk (see rotation speed, implementation technology (including about SMR), etc. ). But from the fact that there is no disc in the description, but I would like to note: unimportant packaging for the disc. Relatively expensive product. And the box is not special and the disk dangles in it, although it is additionally protected. Yes, I came whole, but I didn’t like the packaging (see photos 1 and 2) - I think it doesn’t correspond to the product.
