Although the device looks solid, the fan is loud, indicating it's cheap. My new 2017 iMac 5K Retina system does not recognize the drive. OWC Technical Support advised me to reset the P-RAM (Non-Volatile Memory) on my iMac, which seems to have helped. However, after disconnecting the case, turning off and turning on again, the computer again refused to recognize the drive. The only way to see the drive is to turn off the iMac, turn on the case, and then turn the iMac back on. Given the inconvenience of this procedure and the noise, I decided to return it. However, OWC refused to issue a prepaid label. This meant I had to pay $24 to return an item that was found defective. OWC has lost me as a customer.
