Review on BAFX Products IR Remote Control Extender | IR Repeater Kit - Control up to 8 Devices (Expandable to 12) by Rob Parsons

It works out. It just works. The sensor works in my open plan home over 30 feet. Skip the others and just buy this one!

A perfect quality product that does what it's supposed to do, and does it well. I installed it to replicate the IR lighting in a new A/V installation in a closet with a TV on top. The devices are located inside on a full pull-out shelf. The sensor cable is long enough to be routed from the top/front through the hole in the back of the cabinet to the TV and repeater on the back of the shelf, even when fully extended. The repeater cables are approximately 6 feet long. The sofa in the rectangular room is about 4.5 m from the TV and the sensor attached to it. I bought a second sensor (which will fit) assuming I'll need it to go about 30 feet back into the kitchen. I laid a repeater cable in the wall for this. Well I'm happy to report that a sensor works all the way from the kitchen! So I have an extra sensor. For what? Well that was a pleasant surprise. So I would suggest if you don't need to go around some obstacles that block IR (and can't detect, maybe place the sensor on top or side etc.). The emitters have a double output. This may seem normal - and often it is - and you can compress more blocks if you like. Personally, I would rather have 6 to 8 individual radiators than two. The reason now is that two devices are wired together. It seems fine once it's set - but you can still use flatbread. Pros: - Works. It just works. - Sensor range 30-35 feet in my room - with LEDs and incandescent bulbs and nothing obviously blocking the path. - Lots of inputs and outputs. - Fasteners (I use industrial grade Velcro on the back of the device drawer. Cons: - Personal preference or single emitters, although with HDMI control I ended up using "dual" for a few devices and left the 2nd emitter on the corner .

Pros
  • Easy installation
Cons
  • There are more interesting options.
