Review on ๐Ÿ–ฅ๏ธ LG WH16NS40K 16X BDXL Blu-ray M-DISC DVD CD Writer Drive Bundle with Free Cyberlink Media Suite 10 + SATA Cable by Antonio Parson

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Noisy and the drive doesn't install the CyberLink software, so.

Disc install went smoothly. The drive is running. It can read and install software from disk normally. However, he has not read the CyberLink Media Suite 10 installation CD that came with the drive and is therefore unable to install it. It recognizes that it is a disk with data but freezes when I try to start it and requires a reboot for my computer to work again. As I mentioned in the beginning, it detects and installs *other* software from *other* drives. I installed drivers and software from other drives correctly. But I can't play a DVD or Blu-ray on the drive - which is 99.9% the reason I bought it - without the software on the disc that came with it. Or I could spend another $60-$100 for that output the latest PowerDVD downloaded from the CyberLink website. I didn't have to do this as I bought this unit specifically because it came with the software required to play DVDs and Blu-rays. It's also *incredibly* noisy. It's securely mounted so it's not like it's loose or anything. The drive itself is noisy. This doesn't apply to all individual devices according to other reviewers, but a word of caution: you can get a loud Lemon like me without being able to play media on it, without having to pay for additional software because the (very outdated) software on the supplied diskette will not install and will instead freeze your computer until you restart your computer. Buy this if you are in a gaming mood and enjoy the thought of possibly being annoyed, disappointed and paying a lot more than you expected. just to take full advantage of it. What a treat.

Pros
  • M-DISC (DVD) supported - use M-DISC with this disc for superior data protection
Cons
  • Not bad, but...
