So if you're making a sandwich with just a small amount of ingredients (and I don't like my toasted sandwiches), they'll all move forward because the connection between the top and bottom lids isn't closed. wide enough to hold more than one piece of bread. The right sandwich maker should have a floating loop that helps seal all the ingredients in the sandwich bread. I can't even make a simple grilled cheese — two slices of bread and a slice of American cheese — without the cheese cracking and leaking. Save some time and find a well-known brand that really took the time to design their sandwich irons. This one works so badly I threw it in the trash after using it twice.
