I purchased this puller specifically to remove the axle shaft end from the gearbox. My regular puller didn't grab the cup (half shaft end); but this puller worked like a charm! The posi lock puller held securely the whole time. It also held up exceptionally well as I had to tighten the center bolt with a crowbar and pipe combo and then hit it with a bfh (big damn hammer). Finally I removed the cup while having to cut off the locking ring. I figured all that abuse would damage the puller (I didn't care at the time, I just wanted the job done!), but it still looks brand new. If the tool had any downsides, it would be a slightly larger posi-lock mechanism. It's not a big deal since I could use it on the gearbox while still in the car; it's just something to know. In summary, I can say that this is a great puller!
