Excellent VHS recorder to DVD and direct from TV

I have had this model for almost 3 years (purchased from Revain in January 2014) and it is still working. It records beautifully and reliably straight from your TV/cable channel. And I use it often. He also records from VHS to DVD. All you have to do is insert a cassette into the cassette slot and a blank recordable DVD (but not Blu-ray) into the DVD tray. Then press the "Overwrite" button on the remote control (and not the separate "Record" button, which is only used for recording directly from a TV or cable. The quality of a new DVD is usually not better than the quality of a copied tape, and you may notice a drop in DVD quality if the DVD is set to burn for two hours or more.It is best to burn one-hour segments onto multiple DVDs if you are burning the DVD at the same time want to play the highest quality (you can check this by burning the same VHS to DVD by first setting the DVD recorder to one hour and then recording with the two hour setting, you may notice a little difference). Unless you stop the recording process first. Of course, you can start recording again when you get to the right place on the tape - the DVD simply shows several recordings that can be played back one after the other. Range (at least ten feet), unlike many of the newer "compact" remotes I've often found, they have a weaker signal. This model has been discontinued but is still available for sale on Revain and other websites. The bad news is that the price is almost $250 now; I paid €179. So if you're thinking about converting VHS tapes to DVDs, I wouldn't hesitate to buy this recorder or any other manufacturer (I see Funai is a lot cheaper). Warning: Make sure you DO NOT buy a recorder. this goes from dvd to vhs as they used to be fairly common and don't matter when copying from tape to dvd. Rear Connections: This unit also has an HDMI output port on the rear. I'm not sure how important this really is as the device doesn't record or play Blu-ray discs, but it also gives you the option of RCA connections (common red/white and yellow cables), digital video ( 5 plugs) to be used. . connections) and S-Video. On the front of the unit, under the flip panel, there are also RCA IN jacks - I think they're mainly for recording from external drives, portable camcorders, etc - I've never used them so you'll need to refer to the manual check first . There is also a DV IN jack on the front panel. Limited editing functions are available before the DVD is finished and of course you can set automatic chapters every 5 minutes if you want. You can also give the DVD a title before finalizing it. (Once you are done with the DVD, no further changes are usually possible.) A full manual is available on the Toshiba website. Aside from the lack of Blu-ray recording or playback, this device looks about as fully featured as you'll find. Hence the high price of the device.
