The picture on the box shows a long strong pole. What was in the box had two pieces of a bolt with a hinge that could catch on the threads if you're not careful. The cast iron base was fine, but the rod holding the thread was weak. Even whoever drilled the hole for the small center rod didn't deliver a good thread. It was impossible to screw in the rod holding the thread. My husband used heavy duty glue to allow this item to be used remotely. If you are interested in this product, either buy it from a store where you can see it or invest a little more money and time to find a reputable brand with a decent return policy.
