Cooling - Selective Switching - Technical Support - Updates

Works well but the hard drives in the case get very hot. If you remove the cover/top and feel that the top of the drives is quite warm, I figured they should/would run a lot cooler - if they run cooler won't they last longer? In my desktop single HD case, the single HD runs cooler (it doesn't have a fan). This means that airflow over the hard drives is forced past the small holes at the top of the drives and out the bottom (heat rises, of course). The device is only 1/4 inch from the surface. I would suggest increasing the height of the unit and increasing the airflow (bigger/faster fan) to keep the disks cooler. I have 5 plates in the block, if I take out two or three HDs, then the remaining two or three HDs work colder. Next, I'd like to see the ability to choose how many HD can be included at once - how many or which ones to download; like now when you turn on the device they all turn on and boot together (all 5) which are spread out to the desktop - cooling might help. I'm also interested in how the quality will be - how long the device will last, whether there will be product or software updates. I haven't had to call tech support yet. Transmission speed is a very good idea. Am I doing something wrong? If so, I'm open to suggestions. Thank you - gratitude
