We have a 53 lb gun dog, very strong, who pulls on the leash. She also has to be away on business several times a day. Based on these factors, we decided to give the stake a try and run it across the back of our porch instead of running around the block sniffing every blade of grass four or more times a day. We were worried she might pull the stake, but it holds up surprisingly well, even when the ground around the stake is soaked with rain. The leash can be longer if you intend to leave your dog alone, but this length is great for getting in and out quickly. Our only negative comment concerns the metal clip that attaches to the dog's collar. Because it's hanging outside, it gets wet and then very difficult to open. We added some WD 40 hoping it wouldn't rust. Other than that it was a good buy.
