Many shortcomings. Should have returned. There is absolutely no quality control! I've had several of these over the past 10 years. I had the exact same thing and just couldn't find replacement wires that would fit (wires often break when cutting hard/old cheese). I just ordered another one and the hole was drilled to fit through the marble. It looked so bad I had to return it, but when I was having fun that night I used one of the extra cords in my old slicer (identical). It came on time, the manufacturer is to blame, not the seller.
