Wow, what nonsense. The device was delivered with a broken cable. Took 30 minutes to install a new one (no instructions) which broke after TWO cuts. The mortising in marble was so loose that the cuts were not square and had to be passed through the slot. The wire on the rear bracket was BELOW the level of the slot and put pressure on the wire which had no loop for installation but a loose knot. It was cheap shoddy design followed by shoddy execution. do yourself a favor, look elsewhere.

Cheese cutter uses wire for the blade and that's fine. However, the wires need a special knot at the end to attach them to the handle. I didn't have instructions to replace the wire which is not easy to visualize. The part that attaches the blade assembly is difficult to keep clean and will rust over time. The new replacement I ordered arrived in a box with crushed ends and many of the pictures were rubbed off as if the box had been recycled. The grip nut was missing so could not be attached…

I agree with some posters on first impressions. The first cable broke immediately. I installed the second cable poorly as there were no instructions included. I just replaced that wire, figured out the secret, and the cheese slices easily and evenly. Almost fun to use. It will not rest in the fully closed (down) position due to cable tension. Good thing it comes with extra cutting wires because the first wire broke when I took it out of the box. The second broke trying to put it on. The third would have broken if I hadn't bent the handle before attaching it. The marble has been chipped off at the corners and around the slot where the wire enters. Many shortcomings. Should have returned. There is absolutely no quality control! I've had several of these over the past 10 years. I had the exact same thing and just couldn't find replacement wires that would fit (wires often break when cutting hard/old cheese). I just ordered another one and the hole was drilled to fit through the marble.
