Review on Winsome Wood Leo Shelving: Small and Large Espresso Shelves for Stylish Storage by Deejay Cowan

Revainrating 3 out of 5

"Acceptable Plus " A low-maintenance bookcase that's fairly easy, but a bit fiddly to assemble.

I'm rating this as an 'Acceptable Plus' but I don't understand how this rates 4 or 5 stars. Delivery and packaging: The item arrived quickly and was in a sturdy box. No damage at all and damage is unlikely as it is so well packaged. Materials: This is hardwood with some sort of sprayed stain. The screws supplied for assembly are of excellent quality. The included Allen key for the screws did the job, but I was a little worried it might break if pushed too hard. It's not like this. The surface was a little scratched when I slipped a few times. I expect the finish will scratch over time and probably isn't a suitable surface to rest beverage containers on. Montage: good and bad. It's not difficult or difficult, but a bit annoying. All screw holes line up correctly. It was difficult to tighten the screws for the top shelf as you have to drive the screws into the shelf from below (or from the side if you are laying the item on its side). Access to the screws for the top shelf was tight. and there was a limited turning radius of the Allen key. The rest of the screws were easier. The instructions were only illustrated, but understandable after a short study. All in all it took me 30-40 minutes. It's faster with two people. Look, it's looking good. It's a simple open design and not unattractive. The finish looks like 1950s mahogany. It would be easy to draw if you wanted to bring it to life. Utility and Quality: This works well in the small space I have on my desk. It wobbles a bit, but it's not bad. I plan to put the heaviest items on the bottom shelf. The fit is ok, if not perfect. In general, the wooden parts were square and straight. Nothing had to be bent or re-drilled. Not the most reliable thing you'll have in your home, but acceptable. Verdict: Not bad for the price, but not very profitable. Materials and production can't cost a seller more than $8-$10 in Thailand, so most of the cost comes from shipping and selling. You make a good profit and you get a usable shelf for around $50. I do not regret the purchase. You should reconsider the design of the top shelf as it makes that part of the build a hassle.
