I have one of these because I have kids and our new house has a gas stove. I plugged it into an outlet next to the stove. I'm glad we have this because a week ago it started telling us we had a gas leak. It was early in the morning, I woke up the children and sent them outside. Someone thought they turned off the gas in our oven but there was enough of it to leak. This detector detected explosive gas and carbon monoxide in the air and I just turned off the gas on the stove. It's pretty easy to make a mistake and miss it. With this alarm clock you can have peace of mind.
