The inactivity timeout is EXTREMELY TIRING and annoying. This "feature" is undocumented, but after 10 minutes of inactivity (not computer inactivity, just not reading/writing to/from the hard drive) the drive locks up and you have to re-enter the code to access the drive . You cannot set the length of time and you cannot turn off the time limit. Micronet Support has stated that this behavior is intended to prevent access to your data while you are away. The reason I bought the encrypted drive was that my data is safe in case the drive gets stolen. I don't worry about anyone using my computer to access my data when I'm not around. The hardware shouldn't dictate how I use the device. I connected this drive to another computer in another room and it's shared so I would have to go to another room, enter a code to unlock the drive and then get back to work. As a (extremely clumsy) workaround, I installed a small utility that writes to the disk at a set interval (9 minutes for me) so the disk doesn't "go to sleep". Of course, developing a more flexible interface is not that difficult.
