Review on Sabrent Internal Drive Mounting BK HDDH by Steve Cooper

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Done, the trick also works as a heatsink, read more

Works well, got this as I never wrote a review. I had no problems with it, I still use it today. Found out just by fiddling, if you put thermal pads (I think I used 1.5mm) between the SSD (don't cover the holes) and the mounting tray it will drop about 2c. from your pace. I only tried because I could, not because I had to. I have 2 SSDs, one in a regular 2.5" plastic bay with no thermal pads and the other I used for these. Both SSDs are from the same MX500 model of the same age, with the same airflow conditions, one is 1TB and the other is 500GB. The one I put on that metal tray was a 500GB OS SSD and the one that doesn't use thermal pads is a 1TB gaming SSD, nothing but games on it. When comparing the standby and full load temperatures, one of the thermal pads on this tablet is always 2 degrees colder in both cases. So this compartment has heatsink value if you need one, like I said I did it out of curiosity. I left it closed, if it works then so be it.

Pros
  • Sturdy construction
Cons
  • Expensive
