Century Link ZyXEL modems/routers will do for me. My biggest concern was the modem and since it's an ASDL connection there isn't much choice. Also, it was questionable what kind of help I would get from Centurylink. I was a little worried, but don't worry, Century Link doesn't care what modem you have. I bought the Motorola AC1600 # is the MD1600 and to be honest I'm glad I did. Before I got my modem/router/Wi-Fi device, I visited Motorola's support pages for the MD1600, downloaded the latest firmware, manuals, and a quick start guide. I then emailed support to see if I needed anything from Century Link and they quickly emailed back the #. If I had any problems, contact them. I also wrote down as much information as possible from my old XyXEL modem/router. I saw that I have ASDL, PoE, VPI, VCI and LLC 8/35. To be honest I didn't know what some of them were but I wrote them down anyway. I got the MD1600, connected my computer to the LAN port, logged into the modem/router with the default settings and just followed the simple instructions to update the software. (firmware). Upon completion (it took about 3-4 minutes) I plugged it into the DSL line, rebooted the modem, logged into the modem/router again with my PC and a connection window popped up on the screen asking me to if Century Link is my ISP. I ticked yes and he started getting the necessary information. After about 5 minutes it was still not connected. I called Motorola and they said they were fine, maybe Century Link needed a username in my area and to call them. I called Century Link and before they could answer, the modem connected. Anyway, I spoke to Century Link and they didn't care what modem I had. They asked a few questions, tested some settings received from the modem, and sent me a help guide in case there were any problems in the future. Bottom line - don't be too impatient the first time you connect to your ISP (ISP), it gets its information from Century Link and my download speed is a whopping 3MB (yes that's right) - give it about 15 Minutes and so I would be connected with no calls. Motorola's help was excellent. Phone was answered quickly, they are based in the US, spoke clearly and were very professional. Her working hours were also from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. The modem is great - I get the fastest download speed I've ever had from Century Link. The router has a good range of functions with many automatic settings. Wi-Fi has 2.4G and 5G radios that work independently. I can turn one or both on and off with different SSIDs and passwords. You will also find the full range of functions in the WLAN area. 2.4G seems to have a very good range as it can get to our barn and chicken coop both have Wi-Fi devices. The modem is packed with features - I am very happy with it. When the Century Links technician was away on Saturday he told me they were upgrading the premises. I'm so glad the modem and router are working with the updated Century Links service.
