Works well, headache with Frontier

at a good price. That's what. Installing Frontier was difficult. The installation wizard did not work. I had to call Frontier multiple times to get the information I needed. Either the DSL tech wasn't interested in helping me set up a device he didn't sell me, or he gave me the wrong information. Finally, after many phone calls and endless waiting in the phone trees (once hung up after 20 minutes of waiting), I got the information I needed. If you have Frontier as your ISP you need to: 1- get…

Pros
  • Useful not just for its intended purpose
Cons
  • It's hard to remember, but it's been hard to find a DSL modem router with good reviews

Easy connection - Century Link no matter what modem you use.

Century Link ZyXEL modems/routers will do for me. My biggest concern was the modem and since it's an ASDL connection there isn't much choice. Also, it was questionable what kind of help I would get from Centurylink. I was a little worried, but don't worry, Century Link doesn't care what modem you have. I bought the Motorola AC1600 # is the MD1600 and to be honest I'm glad I did. Before I got my modem/router/Wi-Fi device, I visited Motorola's support pages for the MD1600, downloaded the latest…

CenturyLink firmware update was required.

The first day I spent 4 hours doing this work. Then I read in one of the reviews that it was necessary to update the firmware. I have emailed Motorola Technical Support (you can find the email address in the manual) to ask how to get the firmware update. They replied the next morning. Everything worked (with a few resets and deleting old saved settings) in just 10 minutes. For Centurylink customers using IPoE protocol (not PPPoE protocol): 1. Before purchasing, contact CL (Centerlink) to ask: -

Motorola is at the forefront of customer service.

I've been using Frontier Phone since 2010 to access the Internet through a DSL modem. We live in a remote area of California where there is no cable TV, so we have to rely on video streaming and satellite TV for home entertainment. I use the Internet for my business, communication with customers and banking. Sometimes I need to send large files to clients over the internet. With our internet service, Frontier advertises a maximum bandwidth of just over 6 kbps, which is quite often available…
