
If we are talking about a gaming CPU from the Core i5 series, then I think the 2500K is the better option because it is less expensive and it can be overclocked to run quicker. I swapped over the motherboard that had a Z68 chipset and a 2550K CPU with one that had a Z77 chipset and a 3570K processor. The result is disheartening because it generates more heat, the performance is either reduced or unchanged, and the price of the new system has increased by 2022 dollars (because I was fooled by VIRTU and PCI-E 3.0 technology). However, new processor technologies from Intel represent a move in the right way for portable electronic devices. On the other hand, for stationary gaming personal computers, these advancements represent not only a step in the wrong direction, but rather a step in the direction of marking time at the expense of regular people.
