Pros: General purpose computer with huge screen, backlit keyboard and average battery life. Good for watching movies/videos and viewing multiple documents at the same time. Acer hardware is pretty reliable in my experience. This came out of the box in perfect condition and I expect many years of service from it. The case is larger than its innards require due to the large display, so the innards are well ventilated and laid out with no cable kinks, and the hinges are very beefy. Cons: Not athletic. Uses an inexpensive Core i7 mobile processor and has shared graphics memory. Not the best choice for heavy graphics or computer usage like gaming or rendering. That's a big boy. This nice big screen requires a large case form factor and weighs 5 3/4 pounds. Light enough to carry from room to room and use on your lap, but it's a hassle to carry around in backpacks etc and takes up a lot of desk space. My Opinion: This configuration of the Aspire 5 works well for the way I intend to use it and overall I'm very happy with it. That's what I expected. My only complaints are fairly minor, and I think I'll get used to them: I would have preferred a centered keyboard/touchpad control layout (i.e. no number pad), and I'm not crazy about the feel of the finish. Essentially, the look is different from the computer it replaces, and it doesn't feel comfortable just yet. Note: The illustrations refer to the Acer A517-52-713G, which looks identical to this model.
