I decided to hand polish some of my cheap stamped knives as a learning exercise. I needed a wide variety of sandpaper, from coarse to very fine, but didn't want to buy a few large sheets as I didn't really need many. This set had just the variety I needed. The sanding block is decent. While it doesn't hold sandpaper as firmly as 3M's budget block, it doesn't seem to slide off as easily - although time will tell if the block loosens up. The paper isn't as high quality as the 3M paper either, but for the price I think it's fantastic. I have no problem with water with this paper. Although it can be used on metal, you'll go over paper fairly quickly, but the results will be good. The attached picture shows two knives from the set - the lower one has a lot of machining marks etc. and the upper part is polished almost to a high gloss. If you have a small DIY project that needs sanding, this can be a great option.
