The Best Combination of Price, Safety, Quality and Convenience

I sent Fellowes back after 2 weeks. Although Fellowes has a slightly larger wastepaper basket, I had to empty it more often, which was inconvenient. This is because the Fellows did not shred documents/items as small as the Royal Division and possibly because the dimensions of the Fellows' wastebasket were not as optimal. The quality of the Fellows bin was disappointingly cheap, too: the inside was plasticized cardboard held together with plastic rivets, one of which broke in the short time I had it. The smaller sliver sizes Royal made also meant a little more security. The Fellowes security sensor was good, but it would be difficult to generate an unintended scrap with the Royal due to the angle of its main feed and the depth an object has to penetrate before the scrap activates. Neither device overheated while shredding stacks of paper bags fairly continuously, stopping before shredding to check the contents of each bag. The Fellowes unit was slightly quieter than the Royal, although both had acceptable noise levels. When I bought each unit at Revain, the Royal was $23.88 less. At the time of writing this review, the Royal costs $38.09 less than the Fellowes. 9 months later I am satisfied with Royal.
