You can't expect anything from a meat thermometer. Poke it and get the temperature quickly. Grade this kid! No problem, it turns on and starts recording the temperature as soon as you pull the built-in probe out of the case. The large display makes it very easy to read and there's even a backlight if you're cooking late at night. The meat sensor works exactly as expected. (A very minor disappointment is the lack of built-in storage for an external probe.) Speaking of storage, I love the magnet in the case which always makes it accessible to and from my litter box. Using a meat thermometer has revolutionized the quality of my grill. I have another instant read, this one is more limited. I couldn't resist when I saw the features of it so I'm switching and I'm glad I did. Delicious, moist, perfectly cooked meat every time.
