a big plus for me - no wi-fi, but there is a parallel port

I'm a Luddite. I don't use wifi or bluetooth. I love tight ties. cables and wires. My headphones have cables. I connect to the internet with an ethernet cable. I connect all laptop peripherals via cables. In this case, I'm not worried about the lack of Wi-Fi in this printer. It has a parallel port. Wow. You don't see much of that these days. I used WordStar for DOS from 1986 to about 2007 or 2008. I switched from XP to Windows 7 and was no longer able to install WordStar for DOS. The DOS command line did not work well on the 64-bit Windows 7 operating system environment. I mention this because WordStar for DOS only prints to the parallel port. It doesn't recognize USB ports, which all new laptops and printers have. But now I can connect one of my old XP laptops to this printer and print from WordStar. I still have a lot of WordStar files that I've never converted, so that's a big plus for me. Okay, printing old DOS files over parallel ports probably isn't important to a lot of people. But for you non-Luddites, this printer has many other great features. Like many modern computer programs, this printer has more bells and whistles than I will ever know or need. More importantly, I found it easy to learn the simple things I wanted to do. I only print from a laptop. I don't have a network. Yes, this is an office printer. It's big, heavy and FAST. Much heavier than I expected. The UPS employee had to haul it to my apartment because it was too heavy for her. Plus, it feels very durable - like it's going to take a lot of wear and tear over the years. I am satisfied with the quality of this printer. Both color and black-and-white prints are displayed pin-sharp. The colors are bright but not cartoonish. His photo reproductions are accurate in both resolution and color.
