Fan controller appears to be reversed. 1 below is the fastest speed, 4 above is the slowest speed. The 4th speed, the slowest, barely moves the fan blades, and the 4th variable speed isn't as useful as you might think. The knobs are convex and it would be better if they were concave to make it easier to move the fan switch up and down. Let's hope the fan switch softens over time, but the pressure of pressing it makes it difficult to get up to speed on the first try. I still wish there were better wall switches that could work with the optional remote control option.
