This oil is great for protecting wood. After a while, before it dries, the number of coats you need will be reduced to a minimum. Rub each coat by hand and wipe off excess product immediately, apply multiple coats for a long-lasting build-up effect. it will gather and dry. It becomes a sticky mess that needs to be removed. Even if it dries completely, if I rub hard, I'll crack, peel, and peel. My first attempt at sanding a cutting board required quite a bit of sanding afterwards. There is definitely a right way and a wrong way to use this material. If done right. it is wonderful!
