I had them worn indoors as indoor shoes. I usually wear a women's size 8 and used the sizing chart with socks and a confirmed size 8. However, I wish I could go a half size bigger. The heel penetrates slightly into the Achilles tendon so that the foot sits slightly forward even with a perfect fit. Size 8 may be suitable if you want to sit tight in the water outdoors. I have not used them as water shoes so I cannot confirm that purpose. They generally have a good grip, except when I'm mopping hardwood and laminate floors. Then they get pretty slippery.
