Most problems with the stove are related to the ignition. If it still works and you smell gas and it burns and gets hot for days and sometimes it doesn't, most likely it is NOT A GAS VALVE. This is an igniter that has probably burned out but still works. It doesn't have enough penetration to ignite the gas and sends missed messages to open and close the gas valve when gas is requested. It was replaced by unhooking the old one with the electrical quick connector and replacing it with this one. The new igniter will have this electrical end with a connector and it will snap into the end that goes to the stove. First you have to remove a few parts with a few screws, but it's very easy.
