I've used other collars but my dog always managed to escape out of them. This collar tightens so she can't get out. I am not a cruel pet owner but I can't let my sweet, scared-of-everything furbaby escape and run into danger. This collars allows me to hold on to her till I'm able to get to her and comfort her when she needs me. I always remove her collar when she is in the safety of our home. On walks she wears this so that her safety is certain and I can walk knowing she can't escape and run out into traffic. I'd have used a harness on her but she won't let me put it on her. She hates them. So Martingale collars are the only collar I can kindly use on her. Just remember to rescue your furbaby quickly if they are afraid cuz these collars tighten around the throat when pulled but at least they can't get away from you and run into danger. The collar will allow you to hold on long enough to get to your pet and calm them. Now my furbaby is doing so much better on our walks. Her fears are nearly gone and the collar is only a safety item. Thanks to the Martingale collar, she is safe and doing better.
