Food on skewers as advertised

I took them out for a walk last night and they worked great. One of the wooden handles on the box had snapped along the grain. Not so much that it failed, but a little ugly. Not a big deal, especially for the price. Actually, I expected that the pens would be rubbish and that I would have to replace them with self-made pens. I may have to do it at some point (and I'm looking forward to it, to be honest), but certainly not anytime soon. The handles are held without any effort other than friction, but they hold fairly tight. I took one off to test and had trouble putting it back on because the hole in the handle is the right size and the wood is strong. The 3 welds look like they will last as long as I hope. I wouldn't use these things to remove manhole covers or anything like that, but I don't expect them to fail for life. One of the PR photos of this product gives the impression that the skewers are hollow or even hollow AND open. - End which means food etc can get into the pens. Luckily it's just a confusing photo and the pins are actually sealed. Metal - brushed stainless steel without coating. I buy them to replace old cheap square section skewers with curved round ends. These old ones had a coating that was peeling off, rusting and just sucking. I don't have those concerns about these skewers, but we'll see how they hold up in a year or so. Stainless steel doesn't mean "can't rust" but they look like they can weather well. Each pen has a rubber/silicone coating so it won't puncture the packaging bag which is just a plastic bag, nothing special. They don't look good for long term security but I'll try them and see how well they hold up. I was missing coverage of the 12 items that require security. While the skewers are just over 15 inches long, the handle and reinforcing bar (see photo) are around 5 inches long, giving a little over 10 inches of available cooktop. I used them on a 22 inch charcoal kettle grill that only had charcoal covering the center strip of the fuel grate. I did this because the handle obviously doesn't need to be cooked and the working surface of the skewers isn't very long. The handles are definitely a little burned when frying, but they don't get damaged. I'm not sure if I see a major advantage or disadvantage between wooden handles and metal handles. I bought these metal handled skewers, mistakenly thinking I could handle them without tongs or gloves. Unless you use a very narrow one Fire where the wooden handle is not exposed to heat It doesn't matter: you definitely need gloves or tongs. I'm comfortable with five finger oven mitts but can be uncomfortable using tongs. will take several years. Still. Wood in the dishwasher? Happen. Washing hands is not a problem because the steel gauge is large and there is plenty of space for it. Get a sponge in and around everything. I used a bartender friend for all the problem areas (cooked food, mostly on the tips) and they cleaned up nicely. I will try some other options but if I had a drawer full of these I wouldn't be disappointed.
