Works great but no brakes

I installed this hardware on a customers existing loft ladder (made from heavy 2"x 6" lumber) and it works great. However, it does move quite easily and the ladder will move around while you are climbing it. Is there a brake that can be added to the floor wheels to prevent this? BTW, I tossed out the little track that came with the kit and instead used a 6' length of 3/4" black iron pipe with elbows and flanges. As far as Sheerness is concerned, I'm really not sure. I've never been to the Isle of Sheppey.
