The Ulanzi CG01 adds a comfortable grip and physical shutter release to your phone. For me, it's a great option when a full-blown recording rig or gimbal are inconvenient, making my phone easier to hold when taking a lot of pictures or recording long videos.With its USB-C charging cable stowed inside it, the Cap Grip II weighs only 104 grams, so using takes no more energy than holding just a phone. It is made of plastic, but the inserts on the phone clamp and its entire back are rubberized to securely hold the phone. On the front, the textured part of the grip is also rubberized. The shutter release is attached magnetically and can be removed to become a remote. The cold shoe at the top of the mount and the 1/4" tripod adapter at the bottom add significant versatility. The hole for the wrist strap is in an odd place, and is usable only if you clamp your phone all the way to the left (otherwise, the strap will cover part of the screen).Although I personally don't have much use for it, the included mirror can be convenient for framing selfie shots, and I appreciate the effort to pack an extra feature into a space that would otherwise be wasted. The one mildly negative thing I can find about the CG01 is that the mirror doesn't sit completely flush when its flipped inward (because its convex); it wobbles slightly when touched, and the first time I noticed it it made me think that it wasn't attached correctly -- this isn't enough reason to dock a star, but its worth mentioning.On my Android phone (using Google Camera), the shutter release works perfectly. If you can't get it to work on your phone, look through your camera app's settings.If you want a simple, affordable way to bring the bulbous, comfortable grip of a traditional camera to your skinny phone, the Ulanzi Cap Grip II is a good choice.
