Review on 🧲 Neodymium Magnet – An Essential for Magnetic Cruises by Jason Epstein

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Liar liar pants burn, don't hold 42 pounds

The strength of these magnets is exaggerated. They're strong, but definitely not 42 pounds. I left a similar review for some 80lb magnets I bought at the same time as these. To clarify I bought a similar magnet from KJ Magnetics which was priced at around Β£43 and these magnets are MUCH stronger than this one. and much bigger. This is the difference between buying a Chinese brand and buying an American brand that originated in China. Things tend to be a bit inaccurate in size etc. Other than that they are REAL. and will likely be "very strong" for many people who have never used this type of magnet. I knock them out of the stars because they aren't the best I've tried and they mislead people with their magnetic power. but I'm keeping it 3 stars because it's still good value for money. Not like I'm going to smoke out the deal I was thinking or hoping for. but still a good deal. Remember that weight rating is not pure strength. For example if you stick them to the fridge. You'll likely slip anywhere between 4-8 pounds. The smoother the surface, the less weight it can support. Also, the thickness of the metal you are attaching to plays a big role. Attach one of these to a solid metal pole, it'll hold tight! If the metal is thin, like a piece of tin, then it's not as strong. The power comes from a direct opposing force. So imagine gluing this to a steel I-beam and hanging from it. Here the maximum strength is observed. If you attach them to something on the side and it keeps slipping, try putting a piece of thin rubber between the magnet and the metal. For the record. I would buy them again. With my expectations of what I get, it's still worth it.
