Review on 🐠 Non-Toxic Aquarium Silicone Sealant (10.4 fl oz) Safe for Fish: A Trusted Choice by Dawn Fischer

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Supplied without nozzle (very impractical) - but the silicone itself is good

I put on a background I made for my tank but I've never done anything like it and I've only used a caulking gun once in my life. I've learned the hard way that without that little nozzle that attaches to the tube, application is a nightmare. I may have gotten the silicone all over the place but the cracks where it should be. I had to run the bead over my finger and gradually insert it into the cracks. So the product is probably fine, but if this company has a habit of forgetting the nozzle on a regular basis, that's quite a shame. (And I was so excited that I was finally close to completing my project that I did it anyway - I probably shouldn't live through my mistake again) The tube is very difficult to squeeze, but the silicone itself sticks better than anything I've used before (other types smaller tubes or a bathroom sealer I used to make) note that it's also harder to get off your hands, but it works pretty well with nitrile gloves. And it smooths out way better than any other silicone product I've used as well. Even with a respirator, it smells horribly acrid the first time it comes out of the tube, it burns your nose, but over time it doesn't persistently cause lungs or hurt your nose like you've spilled bleach or vinegar. Well, it was bad at first, but that relief was only for a moment. And the eyes didn't sting, which is surprising with such a strong smell.

Pros
  • 100% silicone - Apel aquarium sealant is always 100% silicone and non-toxic. Our aquarium sealant contains no additives or fungicides that can harm aquatic life or beneficial bacteria in the aquarium.
Cons
  • Definitely a bad product
