I've read in other reviews that the fan in this unit is very noisy, so I ordered the NF-A4x10FLX fan at the same time as this unit based on the recommendation of other reviewers. Well the unit arrived today, I removed the cover and there was no fan at all. Heatsinks on processors are huge. My guess is that they are cheaper and just do it instead of installing a quality fan due to all the previous noise complaints. Well I went ahead and installed the recommended fan as mentioned. It wasn't difficult, but it was a bit difficult without direction. Assembly was easy. The new fan came with rubber through-hole mounts, making it easy to mount to a case. Only two holes were drilled in the case, so the fan is only mounted in two places. The fan housing has rubber isolators on each corner so this is not a problem. It was certainly well enough well fastened. Wiring is ok. It was very easy once I found a place on the board to plug it in. The fan comes with a three-pin connector. There are only 2 pins on the board. Luckily the fan came with a 3-pin to 2-pin adapter. I plugged everything in, turned on the device, and the fan turned on and worked powerfully, smoothly and quietly. Tried again after the lid was up and silent, blowing a ton of air out the side of the case. This is to extend the life of the device. I'm not sure if this is strictly necessary, but I do know electronics like to stay cool.
