Review on Stay Illuminated And Connected Anywhere With LuminAID Solar Camping Lantern And Phone Charger by Bill Garczynski

Get the one with the snap handle

I really like these packable lanterns. They are very light weight and portable. Deflated they lay pretty flat and pack well for camping/hiking, keeping in a car, whatever you want. After my first one burned out, I still liked it enough to buy several more of various sizes. As a lantern the give plenty of light for close general purpose lighting. I also found that if you deflate them, the lights can be a little more "directional" for flashlight use, albeit not a very powerful one.I purchased this particular model to have the usb port for charging phones etc. which has worked well so far. This model however, has a different strap handle than other ones. The other models all have plastic snaps embedded in the handle which work great. This one has velcro glued to the handle which peeled off on the second use on mine. My other complaint is that the battery indicator lights don't seem to ever show it as fully charged on 2 of the 4 lanterns that I have. They seem to have plenty of battery life, just the indicator only shows a half-charge at best.Overall the velcro handle failed on second use, and the battery indicator lights are iffy, but I really like the lanterns (especially the smallest one), and would recommend them to friends.

Pros
  • Built-in battery management system ensures a safe and consistent charge
Cons
  • Can be difficult to repair if damaged
