Strongly built but sensitive. Don't get me wrong, it gets the job done and as long as you don't try to move too fast with it you should be fine. As most other reviews say, only good for smooth, flat surfaces. I've used it in my kitchen with a slightly raised linoleum floor in a simple square pattern and yes, you may notice video playback jumping or appearing jagged. Come to think of it, it was a lot less noticeable when I retested the same floor and moved a little slower with it. I think the camera stability control took care of any bumps. Using Canon Vixia hf s10; not revered for its image stability control, but at a slower pace it works. This piece is great for tiled hardwood floors and carpets. I tried two different types of carpets, a very smooth, short pile - it worked great; and the other, slightly thicker and rougher (and his dogs tore it up, so there's some scratched fibers, roughness, etc.) - worked very well. Of course, some of the thicker rough spots were a small problem, but not a big one. In the end you get what you pay for. Don't expect this thing to work wonders, but it's fine for small productions and/or student work as long as it's on smooth surfaces. If your camera has image stability control, slow down your tracking shots a bit and the stability control should do the rest.
