Edit 4/14/21: I'm slow getting around to updating my review. These only made it for about 3 months before they started being dead right off the charger. Dad removed one from the charger and it ran out while drilling a single pilot hole in a post for a hinge pin using a spade bit. This happened enough times that we concluded something was wrong, but we never figured out if the charger isn't charging them in the first place or if it is charging them then the charge is cut off and the battery then drains itself, or what. As mentioned in the original review below, we do use these with a traditional, non Lithium-ready charger, as the seller seems to imply we can do. After enough issues with tools not working when we needed them even for the simplest projects, with the old original batteries actually working better for us than these, even though those were long since failing on us, which was the reason we got these Lithium ones in the first place, we gave it up as a bad job.We bought a 7 tool kit that came in a big bag on wheels and was part of the Lithium 20v Max line. I did it on Black Friday and got a couple of buy one get something else free deals to get a couple of other tools free aside from this. It wound up being an investment of about $700 but we got 10 tools out of it one of which is a fantastic DCD998 drill, probably one of the best made. All said and done we have the two 2ah batteries the came with the kit, plus a 4ah that came with my impact wrench and an 8ah that came with that DCD998 drill. All that and we still had a bunch of old 18v tools laying unused, so I bought a couple of cheap adapters allowing us to use 20v Max batteries in those. That seems to work well but we have to be careful not to drain the batteries because we got a third party adapter that doesn't feature the ability to cut power to preserve the battery, so allowing the battery to stay on the adapter either in or out of a tool can result in it going so flat the chargers won't charge it.In short, I wouldn't recommend these batteries given our own experience. However, looking back at the original product description, it sounds like the seller is now implying that they're changing the design. If they are, perhaps they found and have fixed the problem we had.Original review:I'm getting a 3 dollar gift card for this review, but I promise that I'm not allowing that to bias my opinion. We got two of them with one purchase. I like the idea that these packs are filled with 18650 batteries. These are mainstream Lithium Ion cells that I can buy elsewhere. We haven't disassembled one of the packs to see how complicated replacing cells will be, but I still like the sound of that. What I like is the batteries are lightweight. They're higher capacity than the ones we used before without being as heavy. They seem to run the tools at a slightly higher top speed than the original batteries. The batteries are encased in a simple oval shaped housing without any fancy grooves or other design aspects. These are, according to the seller, supposed to work with the original charger that did not intend to support Lithium Ion chargers. So, if you are on the fence, this option enables you to make the switch without having to invest in a new charger. For us, this was a better value than switching to the 20v max batteries and using adapters. While we haven't owned these for very long, nor have we built anything big with the tools since we got these batteries, we have used and charged them a time or two. So far they do exactly what they promise. My dad used to build houses. We have lots of tools, many of which are 18v Dewalt. So far we are pleasantly pleased. I'll try to remember to come up here and add to my review once something changes.
