I use them on the back wall as rear surround speakers. They just surround you with sound like a bubble. You can hear movie cues when they're there and integrate perfectly with my main speakers, which is a paradigm. They're easy to assemble, have fantastic build quality, and the thin profile doesn't stick out like a bookshelf. They are not monopoles, bipoles or dipoles. Infinity's HST design works as advertised and I think it's better for surround sound. Most systems are unbalanced by design, with 3 speakers in the front (LCR) and only one or two in the surround back channels. Most systems are not really balanced, they are dominated by what is happening in the front channels. Infinity's HST design balances the front much better as the design REALLY fills the large hole in the center of the rear as the diffused sound is more enveloping.
